Measure the things you want to carry
List the dimensions of your largest everyday object, including its case. Compare those dimensions with the bag's usable interior and opening. Outer width and height alone cannot show whether an object passes through a narrow zip opening or fits around an internal divider.
Ask how dimensions were measured and whether the bag was empty, packed or laid flat. Do not calculate usable volume from three outside measurements and present it as a tested capacity.
Crossbody bags: check the strap range
Request the minimum and maximum strap length, where that measurement begins and ends, and whether hardware is included. Compare it with a strap you already use at a comfortable position. A model photo is not a substitute because body height, camera angle and strap adjustment differ.
Look for photos of both attachment points, the adjuster, the closure and the interior. These can document the visible construction. They do not establish the strength of the strap or a safe load limit.
Totes: check the opening and handle drop
Handle drop is the distance from the top of the bag to the inside of the handle at its highest point. Ask the source to confirm its method and compare with a tote that fits over the clothing you normally wear.
Check whether the opening closes, whether there are internal pockets, and how a long object would sit. A photo of a full bag does not tell you the weight it can carry repeatedly. If carrying capacity is important, request a documented limit rather than assuming it from fabric thickness.
Keep the comparison consistent
- Record width, height, depth and opening width with units.
- Separate empty bag weight from shipping or packaged weight.
- Keep photos of corners, base, lining and attachment points.
- Write down missing material or care information as unknown.
Color can change with lighting and screen settings. Surface texture does not confirm leather, coating type or water resistance.
